When you think of the American West, one of the first things that probably comes to mind are cattle drives. The Colorado Trail gives you a glimpse into some of the history of this famous cattle drive, while the Grand Canyon is forever inspiring. Don’t think that you have to head out west to enjoy a good cattle drive though. You also have the Colorado Trail, which is about as close as you’ll get to the West. The wildlife on this trail is also incredible.

One of the most popular things to do in Arizona and Colorado is white water rafting. There are some gorgeous rivers in the state, and it’s easy to spend a week getting really close to them. The San Isabel, Colorado River, and the Gunnison, Colorado rivers are the ones most often referred to when people think of rafting in the West. You’ll want to check out the North rim of the Grand Canyon, the San Juan and South Rim, and the Colorado Rivers as well. Each of these rivers affords excellent white water rafting.

When you think of the most beautiful places in Arizona and Colorado, you probably think of a world-famous landmark. Hot springs are an absolute must. Of course, you don’t have to travel to a hot spring to enjoy one, but you will certainly get the chance to visit one in its most popular form – hot tubs. There are dozens of them around the country, and they provide a unique and relaxing experience.

A lot of people who visit Arizona and Colorado are interested in national parks. There are literally dozens of parks in each of the states, and each one is a different landscape. You can visit Yosemite, the Grand Canyon, and the wildlife refuge at Wye River, all within Colorado. The Colorado Parks and Wildlife Refuge is another absolutely amazing stop. It’s home to a host of wildlife – elk, deer, coyote, and moose.

In the summer months, outdoor enthusiasts will find the Northern Plain in Colorado to be heaven. It has miles of hiking and biking trails, and there are several lodges and cabins available for renting. The flora and fauna of this area is spectacular – the evergreens and wildflowers, mountain pine and black bear, and abundant wildlife such as elk, moose, and deer are just some of the scenery that is visible.

If you love your nightlife, you don’t have to leave your hotel to have some fun. The Silverthorn Lounge in Vail is just one mile from the slopes of Gail Mountain and hosts several live musical acts nightly. Other activities include riding, skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. Vail has tons of family-friendly activities as well.
